I want to switch to a natural deodorant from an antiperspirant, what do I need to do? 

Start using our aluminum-free deodorant and stop using your current anti-perspirant. When you quit using an anti-perspirant, there is a natural purging process that begins. Your pores release the aluminum that was built up from using an anti-perspirant, which may result in some odor. This phase will last around 2-4 weeks. To help speed up this process, we recommend using an exfoliant like our Bum Bum Body Scrub. And remember, you may need to reapply an aluminum-free deodorant throughout the day to keep bacteria away.

Is Rio Deo Aluminum-Free Deodorant safe to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

We have not tested Rio Deo Aluminum-Free Deodorant for safety during pregnancy or while lactating. Because every pregnancy is different, we recommend reviewing the products you use with your health care provider to make sure they are appropriate for your pregnancy and while lactating.

Is Rio Deo Aluminum-Free Deodorant an antiperspirant?

No, it’s aluminum-free deodorant, which means it eliminates body odor but doesn’t stop you from perspiring (which is okay, because sweating is good for you!). Rio Deo embraces your body’s natural rhythms – combating odor exactly when you need it throughout the day. It’s made with Citric Acid Ester, which neutralizes the bacteria that causes odor, and Tapioca Starch, which absorbs excess moisture to help keep underarms feeling dry.

Can Rio Deo be used on other sweaty areas? 

Rio Deo addresses body odor on other areas besides underarms. It can be used anywhere that you need it, including bikini line, inner thigh, or even feet. Just make sure to use on external areas only.

Is Rio Deo a natural deodorant?

Rio Deo is made with 98% naturally derived ingredients including body-odor blocking Citric Acid Ester, gently exfoliating Papaya Enzymes, and Brazilian Bacuri and Mango Seed Butters.

Does Rio Deo contain baking soda?

No, Rio Deo is a baking soda-free formula. We know baking soda can be irritating to some and may exacerbate body odor, so we decided it was important to create a formula without it.

Will Rio Deo stop me from sweating?

No, like all aluminum-free deodorants, Rio Deo won't stop you from sweating (aluminum is what stops sweating by blocking your pores). And sweating isn’t a bad thing—it’s how your body cools itself and releases toxins. Afterall, it’s not sweat that causes odor, it’s bacteria that makes you smell. Rio Deo embraces your body’s natural rhythms—which naturally prevents the bacteria that causes odor to be able to form leaving you feeling fresh all day. 

Will Rio Deo Aluminum-Free Deodorant stain your clothes?

Use it as instructed—just one or two swipes is all you need to feel fresh all day. Anything more might leave marks on clothing. If you do experience stains, your favorite stain remover should do the trick for getting anything out in the wash.
